Geotechnical and technological supervision of highway construction – sections III C1 and III C2a

On the Zagreb–Split motorway—specifically on sections III C1 (Jezerane–Žuta Lokva) and III C2 (Žuta Lokva–Ličko Lešće), as well as the Žuta Lokva inter-regional interchange—technical supervision of earthworks and expert geotechnical supervision were carried out as part of the construction supervision process.

Section III C1 (Jezerane–Žuta Lokva), with a total length of 20.251 km, includes the Žuta Lokva inter-regional interchange, the Brinje interchange, the Brinje Tunnel, and a series of structures, the most significant of which are the Mokro Polje, Jezerane, Zeleni Most, and Borići viaducts. Section III C2 (23.985 km long) includes the Otočac interchange, the Brezovica and Plasina tunnels, and a series of structures, most notably the Gacka Bridge and the Babića Most, Oreškovići, and Vršci viaducts. Geotechnical supervision activities covered structure foundations, cut-slope protection, the construction of drainage systems, embankment foundations on low-bearing-capacity soil, and the investigation and remediation of underground cavities. Technical supervision involved quality control of material placement for the embankment body, subgrade, sub-base layers, transition wedges adjacent to structures, and cement-stabilized layers.
